Nope, I am NOT going to say the “P” word!
The best-laid plans have a way of getting derailed. Last week was the photo session for the Rebel Girl Marketing brand refresh and even though Serendipity Labs at Mayfair Collection was the ideal place for part of it, the tranquil city of Wauwatosa faced potential unrest. At the last-minute, alternative locations needed to be found. *
This is where surrounding yourself with an amazing network comes into play. As I let participants in the photo session know about needing to change plans, they went into problem-solving mode! They came through with ideas, made phone calls on my behalf and we finally found alternative locations.
The best part of the experience was that I put myself in the place of my clients and walked a proverbial mile in their shoes. We have been taught that boasting is not proper and not to toot your own horn. We work hard to build our business and we ought to be proud of what we have accomplished so far. So I say go ahead and “TOOT, TOOT!!”
This week’s lesson is: talking about yourself can be hard! Creating content for my clients is easy, they are awesome! Writing content for myself? All crickets in my head and no bright ideas. UGH.
So, what do we do? Adjust/reframe/change our perspective on how we talk about ourselves. (no, I am still NOT saying the “P” word). I did all the things that I ask my clients to do: write down the things about your business that energize you in one column and the things that drain you or stress you out in another. Take that second column and give those responsibilities to someone else! On the energizing side, find a way to use that column in your content, on your website, in your bio, in your elevator pitch, social posts, advertising, and so on. I looked at the website from the “Why would someone care?” view and eliminated sections that have no relevance, (there is more, yet you get the idea).
Bottom Line: You are amazing! What are you saying about yourself and your brand so others understand what you do and how you are unique?

*Does having to find a new location compared to the wake of what happened? Of course not. I pray for peace and kindness to reign over violence and threats in our country every day. This post is not intended to downplay or dismiss all that happened in Wauwatosa last week.
