I am acting as Product Owner on the Scrum team I am on these days. I was wondering about a good tool to manage the Product Backlog.
- web-based as all team members work remote. There is no corporate LAN to remote into.
- visible to all teams members but secure too - only visible to team members
- easy to manage items in the backlog: add/change/delete/view. Good ability to find items using search
- ability to organize hundreds of items in the Backlog so that team members who aren't the Product Owner don't freak out. If I am tracking several hundred items in the Backlog, I want a way to surface the things that are most important "now" to the Team - perhaps they see the top 10-40 items easily - the rest can be seen if they want, but they don't have to see them.
- ability to track/sort/filter/view items across multiple dimensions including: big theme/goal, timeframe, impact, effort, team that will work on it, delivery status
- low price
- Excel on SharePoint
- Git - Creating board(s) in our Git tool
- Clickup - Creating board(s) in a General Project Management task tracking tool
- Jira - Creating board(s) in a this task tracking tool that is well-known amongst Agile software development teams.
I really like Jira and was settling on that. Then I stumbled upon Jira Product Discovery, which is a layer on top of Jira sold by Atlassian that is focused on Product Backlog requirements! I have been using it for 2 sprints so far and am very happy.
