We live in a world where many people take a pill to wake up and a pill to sleep. ??
We live in a world where 1 day without a supplement takes away our Super Powers. Or should we rather say that it takes away the famous placebo effect? ??
However, we should probably ask ourselves, when did food stop being our primary medicine? ?
The truth is that it never has. It’s just a false idea that there’s something NEW and SHINY that can make our lives that much better by only taking it. ??
A couple of years ago, I decided to do 1 simple thing that I knew will help me for the rest of my life. ??
I picked up an audiobook about all the vitamins and minerals. While listening, I wrote down each and every vitamin, each and every mineral, each and every food containing them and each and every benefit that comes with it. ??
It could’ve taken me 1000 hours and I would’ve been happy because I knew it would help me live that much longer. The truth is that it didn’t even take 10 hours. ?
And what did I found out? ???
Basically that there are only a couple of vitamins or minerals that we might have a hard time taking enough from food, and ONLY THEN we should even think of picking a supplement that may help. ??
If we pick the right foods, we’ll be healthier. ??
If we pick the wrong foods, we’ll be less healthy. ??
Can you eat healthy and still get a disease? ??
Sure you can, but does that mean you don’t have to eat healthy anymore? ??
Let me give you an example. ??
Let’s say you know someone that is always eating healthy, but eventually, they get a disease and die young. ??
And another person you know smoked all their life, and they live 20 years more. ??
Conclusion? ??
Obviously, you should smoke and not eat healthy for the rest of your life if you want to live longer, right? ??
That’s definitely not the correct answer. ??
We can’t look at a situation and think we understand it so easily. What if the person who was eating healthy has been sedentary all their life, while the person smoking has exercised for 1 hour each day during that time? ??
??????As much as we are looking for the next big thing, the truth is that the fundamentals will rarely change. We’ll almost always need the same vitamins and minerals and if you combine food with other good and healthy habits, you’ll maximize your chances of having a long and healthy life, which probably everyone wants, even if their actions are not aligned with that goal. ??
