Picasso was here ok?

I have had several messages asking where this picture was taken. It is the island close to Nisos Megalo in the Petelis off Marmari on the southwest corner of Evia. The house used to belong to the sister of Picasso with its own private port. The pointer, this is 'skipper' a well known veteran sailor of most of the islands for 15 years. A lot of people will remember him as being a boisterous a puppy. He is now getting on in years of course and finding it a little difficult to balance so this year will probably be his last on boats but has many fond memories of the best places to go.

Evia is one of the most under rated islands in the Aegean. Although there are some foreign tourists it is mainly Athenians that holiday there due to it's proximity. Most places to go are traditional and unspoiled. It is rich in history and as it is so large (the second largest) it is often thought of as being part of the mainland. Because of its strategic position some of the most famous historic battles have taken place there and on the road through Marathon to Athens including the bravery and demise of the 300 Spartans.  There are many interesting ports of call around Evia. The Sporades and Northern Spaorades (Skiathos, Skopolos and Alonisos and others) are well within reach either by way of the channel leading to the  road bridge that opens once a day at Xalkis for passage or round the outside of the island past Skyros. A very pleasant and welcome change to the more tumultuous weather and seas of the Cyclades and Dodecanese. There's some of everything for the young and older family members to enjoy
