PIant It Forward Welcomes Three New Members to Board of Directors

HOUSTON, TX. (January 10, 2023)

Plant It Forward (PIF) is pleased to welcome three new members to our Board of Directors! Sheryl Abrahams and Abimbole Farinde both join for two year terms and Amy Tanguay is a Rice University MBA Board Fellow with us for the school year.

Sheryl Abrahams earned her B.A. from Rice University and her Master of Public Health from UNC-Chapel Hill. She has authored peer-reviewed articles in public health and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Turkmenistan. In addition to her time in the Peace Corps, she's lived abroad with her family in Belgium and speaks both French and Turkmen. She's an active community volunteer locally where she serves as a docent with the Houston Museum of Natural Science; a volunteer with the Refugee Women's Empowerment Group at Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston; a member of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Houston; a volunteer with The Post Oak School; and a cook with Lasagna Love.

Abimbole Farinde holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from Texas Southern University and is a professor at Columbia Southern University. Abby is a Houstonian with Nigerian roots who strives to serve as a catalyst for positive change locally and globally. In addition to her years of support for PIF, she's an active volunteer with the Junior League of Houston, Literacy Now, and TUTS.

Amy Tanguay is serving as a Board Fellow with Plant It Forward this school term as she works toward her M.B.A. from Rice University. She holds a B.A. in English and German from Southwestern University and an M.A. in German Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. She has lived in Halstenbek, Germany and speaks German. She's a Houston native who loves the city's terrific theater and arts scene. Despite having a self-proclaimed "black thumb," Amy loves good food and supporting other people as they excel.

We are so pleased to have these three accomplished women join the PIF Board of Directors! They each bring a set of skills that compliment the rest of the Board and will elevate our delivery on our mission. - Liz Vallette, President
