Are Physios Like Budget Airlines?

What Do Physios and Budget Airlines Have In Common?

I used to do this for a long time without even thinking about it. When I was at the airport, I would start cramming my handbag into my hand luggage. ??

I did it for ages, even when I was allowed two pieces of carry-on. Why? EasyJet trained me. ??

For those of you outside the UK, EasyJet is a cheap and not-so-cheerful airline with strict rules. One carry-on bag, and you even get the joy of placing your bag in and out of their size checker at the gate. ??

The airline that flies me from my blissful middle-of-nowhere home to somewhere (usually London) allows two pieces of carry-on, but for ages before boarding, I’d still be forcing one bag into the other. It was just a habit.

A habit that could be stunting the growth of your practice is finishing a treatment and asking your patient if they’d like to book again—or worse, recommending they "see how they go." ??

The amazing chiropractor I see does this every time. I finish my treatment, head to reception, and get asked, “Do you need to come again?” I always want to say, “How should I know?” ??♀?

A habit to cultivate, especially in your team, is to be more prescriptive. Consider the injury—when would be the ideal time to see them again? What’s your plan for the next appointment, and have you communicated that? ??

Remember, it’s not up to the patient to decide… that’s what they’re paying you for. This is often the missing piece if your team’s list isn’t taking off. ??

P.S. An oldie but a goodie—click here to watch a very funny bit about the joys of cheap flights! ?? Heads up with video contains some?swearing.

PPS. If you are always prescriptive with your patients but your team aren't and you'd like some help to fix it, message us and let's chat.
