All to often I'm asked to review photographers websites from a marketing point of view and give them feedback as to why their website is not generating them any business, could this be you too?
Your business website acts as your social proof and reinforces your brand, but not only that your website should also be making you money. Too many photographers spend a fortune on websites that are nothing more than mere online portfolios of their work, yes the work looks great but there's just no content on there. Then once their website is up and running they leave it at that to get lost among the 10,000's of other under performing photography websites that can never be found in the Google Search Rankings
Your website has to have great content, it needs to reinforce your brand message and give good solid information, tips and advice to your visitors. Look at your website from a visitor's perspective, think of the sort of questions your potential clients would be asking when they arrive at your home page.
Is your content regularly updated, do you have a blog and links to your social media, is there a "call to action" and is your contact number displayed clearly on every page?
Google itself rewards websites that are regularly updated with useful and helpful content, by ranking those sites higher than similar sites that do not share great content with their visitors.
By incorporating an ecommerce platform to your website you are giving prospective clients the easy to complete transaction and make secure purchases online all from one visit to your site. A prospective client may visit your site several times, check out your social media pages then feel they are in a position to book or make a purchase. These days our customers like the easy option, they don’t want to call to book, they don’t want to email and wait for a reply, they want one simple easy and secure transaction.
It very important to build trust on any website so you need to share customer testimonials on every page, 5 star reviews and trusted links to review sites and your social media pages along with a great and helpful FAQ’s page.
