Phones For Private Practice
For phones, there are a ton of different phone types. The most expensive is to just get a landline and then have that kind of old-school system where people leave a voicemail and then you transfer between. Those setups will cost upwards to a $1000. There are a ton of different phone options, and there's a lot to consider in regards to HIPAA compliance. With regards to phones that can transfer between cell phones, you will need to look at what you feel comfortable with in regards to HIPAA. I'm still recommending Grasshopper. The way that works is someone will call a main number and then it rings to your cell phone. There are a lot of these that fall in this grey area with regards to compliance and HIPAA. Unfortunately, the totally HIPAA compliant ones are so expensive for people starting a practice. Also, I don't recommend Google Voice. I think it comes across as very cheap, when someone says, ‘This phone is brought to you by Google Voice’. So I definitely wouldn't recommend that, but you’ll want to do your own research around phones.
