The Phone Call I had to Answer, Building Confidence & New LinkedIn Toys! | #6 Confessions of an Agency Owner

Hello lovely people!

We're now into week 5 of the LinkedIn Creator Accelerator Programme, and like many other participants, I'm scrambling to get everything ticked off to graduate on December 2nd.

Here's the highlights of my week 4!

Podcast #2 is now Live - Kirsty Hulse: How to Build Confidence

My second podcast is now live and I sat down with Kirsty Hulse, a confidence trainer, motivational speaker, ex-agency owner and all-round amazing person to talk about building confidence.

Except this was a podcast episode with a bit of a twist as Kirsty coached me on the show!

For anyone looking to put themselves out there to raise their profile or gain awareness of their company through public speaking, appearing on podcasts or even posting on social media Kirsty gave some great tips on how to build confidence step by step.

The phone call I had to answer..

On Wednesday last week I took part in my first ever LinkedIn Live. It was a new experience for me but I was surrounded by 4 very inspirational people in my Creator pod who all have incredible stories which made it a bit less daunting. Plus Funke Abimbola MBE who has plenty of TV experience on BBC Breakfast had it all under control in the host seat.

But it just so happened that my son's school bus driver was taken ill earlier in the day...

My son can only say a few words (he has special needs) and just as we started recording the LinkedIn Live I got the phone call I was half expecting. I had no choice but to turn off my camera and apologise to everyone and take the call and direct the driver to my house.

What's worse is they then phoned again! So not once but twice did I nearly ruin it.

They say anything can happen when it's live and for me it certainly did! It was so embarrassing and I can only apologise to the rest of the pod.. but I simply had to take that call. ??

New LinkedIn Features

On Thursday night there was panic as LinkedIn seemed to break.. Connections disappeared, inmail messages went blank, feeds were full of week old posts and influencers were piling onto Twitter to break the news..

But.. when it came back to the surface I noticed a few new toys and features were available..

So What's New?

Message straight from a comment: You can now reply to a comment or message that person directly. A great way of building new connections from a post.

Upload videos in Carousels: I'm really excited to try this one out. You can now upload multiple images or videos and post as a carousel.

Create Template Graphics: This new feature allows creators to quickly post a short quote into a pre-defined range of graphics and backgrounds.

LinkedIn is really upping its game in my view at the moment and for people that post regularly this is a great chance to mix up those selfies and text posts.

And finally...

On Friday 25th November Honcho's COO Syed Ali will be presenting on his very own LinkedIn Live on how Retailers can Navigate Q4.

He'll be sharing data on what retailers can expect in terms of consumer spending and sharing some great tips on how to maximise performance in the current economic climate.
