PHL Group implements Custody Healthcare innovation with DemDx

PHL Group is delighted to become the first custody healthcare in the world provider to introduce DemDx, a clinical decision support platform to support patient assessment and treatment.

PHL's Custody Healthcare Service provides healthcare to detained persons in policecustody suites across Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and the City of London. The service is delivered by qualified healthcare professionals, including registered nurses, paramedics, and forensic medical examiners.

The service provides a high quality, safe and effective healthcare service to detainees and also supports the police in their role of protecting the public and ensuring that detainees are treated fairly and with respect. PHL Group has supported DemDx to tailor the platform to be used in custody healthcare.

DemDx is a clinical decision support platform that has been developed by 100s of hospitaland primary care doctors to help healthcare professionals make more accurate and timely assessments. The platform has more than 1.5m pathways and approximately 2,800 end diagnoses.

DemDx can be used to support a wide range of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists and other allied healthcare professionals. The platform can be used to help with a variety of tasks, such as:

● Conducting patient assessments

● Ordering investigations

● Developing care plans/onward treatment options through actions that are customised to local care pathways

The adoption of DemDx will further enhance the quality of care provided to detainees. The platform is designed to make it easier for healthcare professionals to make accurate assessments, and to ensure that detainees receive the care they need.
