Born and raised in Canberra, Phillip McKeough has lived with type one diabetes (T1D) for most of his life. He is one of four boys, all diagnosed with T1D, and all living to the fullest despite the challenges that diabetes poses in their day-to-day life. Phil has participated in Walk for a Cure, has spoken to parliament, and co-hosted a workshop on a diabetic cruise where he spoke on resilience how diabetes doesn’t define him, never failing to advocate for diabetes awareness and subsidisation of life saving medical devices, such as the Constant Glucose Monitor (CGM), which is why he is excited to be helping, raise money for the DANII Foundation - T1 Diabetes by guest speaking at Reconnect the Disconnect this Wednesday night.
Phil has found strength in viewing obstacles as opportunities for growth and improvement, believing that there is always more to learn, and striving to hold onto that mindset whenever life throws him a new challenge. Not despite, but in the face of his diagnosis, Phil has always maintained his enthusiasm and optimism, finding inner strength in the adversity he faces, and support from his friends and family.
Come and hear Phil's incredible story on Wednesday May 16 at 3 pm at Eastlake Gungahlin. Tickets $49 with 10% of ticket sales going to the DANII foundation. Buy your ticket here:
