PHILANTHROPY MANAGER | SOAS UNIVERSITY OF LONDON
Africa, Asia and the Middle East are not simply regions of study for SOAS, but the lenses through which to understand the planetary questions of our time

PHILANTHROPY MANAGER | SOAS UNIVERSITY OF LONDON

Advancement at SOAS is a small but ambitious and energetic team - working closely with the SOAS Director, Adam Habib, our ambition is to reimagine SOAS for the 21st Century.

Many elements of this bold plan can only be made possible through philanthropic support - and the role of Philanthropy Manager is essential in helping us to achieve our fundraising goals.

The Philanthropy Manager is one of four front-line fundraisers in the Advancement Team, all working closely with the Head of Advancement to grow philanthropic income across a number of strategic priorities, primarily: scholarships, academic positions, capital and unrestricted income.

As well as redesigning many of our departmental and institutional processes, SOAS’ Advancement Team have pioneered a new structure for collaboration with our academic community to maximise potential gifts and engagement in all areas of the university.

The Philanthropy Manager will work closely with Heads of Department for three academic departments: Development Studies, Economics and Finance & Management, to craft philanthropic proposals and opportunities, and to act as their main point of contact.

The role requires an intuitive and motivated candidate who can navigate a portfolio of 120 prospects - alumni, corporates, and trusts and foundations from across the departmental spectrum.

Whilst much of our prospect and donor community is based here in London, the Philanthropy Manager will be encouraged to scope out and lead on potential overseas donor opportunities and grow the reach of our fundraising and alumni programmes.

The salary is Grade 8 £47,319 to £55,710, the Advancement Team are based at Russell Square in London and there are options for Hybrid and Flexible Working.

Benefits include the Universities Superannuation Scheme with a SOAS pension contribution of 21.1% and 44 days Annual Leave including Bank Holidays and Closure Days.
