The Philanthropy of 12/31 11:59 pm - It's not about the bagels.
As the calendar year comes to an end, we all notice the uptick in social media posts from non-profits promoting year-end gifts. We certainly do the same at Calvert Hall. We go on further to promote an early morning New Year's Eve - "Bagels with Baker" to invite benefactors to drop off their donations, while having some good fellowship, bagels and a cup of Joe (pun!).
Beyond the bagels - most outreaches will emphasize the tax benefits of making a gift. In the last few days, I've followed on my phone feed as generous gift after gift has come in to support to the students of The Hall. Those gifts are not coming in for the tax benefit or the anticipation of a good bagel. They are coming in to make a difference. Our donors recognize the benefits of a Calvert Hall education. Their gifts are providing opportunities and resources that will enhance the educational experience of our students. Our donors are providing tuition assistance, expanding technology, promoting professional development, lighting classrooms, copying sheet music, funding immersion trips, and so much more
Our benefactors are committed to the benefits of a Lasallian education- developing men of intellect, men of faith, and men of integrity, preparing them to be be successful in college and to be leaders in our community. Our benefactors are generously securing the future of our school and investing in the future of the community we all live in.
12/31 11:59 pm is a reminder of the importance of making a difference and investing in the future. The bagels, you can get them any day. But, if you really want a New Year's Eve bagel - we'll be in the Noppinger Commons (main entrance) from 8 am. til 10 am.
