PhD-opening in Sustainable and Fire Resilient Built Environment (SAFR-BE)

The Division of Energy and Building Design at LTH, Lund (Sweden) is now starting recruitment for a new doctoral position. The deadline to apply for this opening is 01 December 2024, 11:59PM (CET).

This position is is embedded in a joint research project between the Divisions of Energy and Building Design (EBD) and Fire Safety Engineering (FSE) at LTH, who will each have one PhD-student. The research aims to develop a framework for a sustainable and fire resilient built environment (SAFR-BE). The PhD-student based at the EBD (this opening) will drive the sustainability aspects, whereas the PhD-student at FSE student will start from fire resilience. This is challenging and complex topic, which will include a deep dive into risk management, building performance quantification, and (design) decision making.

The project funding is international and there is a strong academic team supporting the work. The EBD student will be supervised by myself and my colleague Ricardo Bernardo. The FSE team consists of PhD-student Cecilia Wetterqvist, H?kan Frantzich, and Margaret McNamee (who is also the overall project leader). External support is provided by Alex Mossberg (Bengt Dahlgren Fire Research) and Brian Meacham (both FSE and Crux).
