The AI news cycle is so constant that you can sometimes get fatigued to such a point that groundbreaking new models get lost in the fray as they have this week. One thing that has really caught my notice in the last week or so is not a fancy new model but a relatively under the radar tool from Google. To a casual observer this tool could seem like yet another implementation of the "Talk with your PDF" genre of tools that have been everywhere for at least a year.

What makes this different? In a word - Implementation.

This AI-powered note-taking and research assistant, born from a collaboration between Google and renowned author Stephen Johnson, is redefining how we interact with information. Here are some really cool standout features

• Give it a youtube video link and it will take the video transcript and create a summary and allow you to ask questions.
• The feature that has got most of the attention is that it can take a PDF and create a pretty realistic podcast with 2 presenters talking back and forth about the material. Imagine the possibilities of this?

Here is an example. I uploaded a 10 slide pitch deck for my company. It does get a couple of small things incorrect but this was generated in under a minute using NotebookLM.
