Phase 1: Study Release notes

This is the first phase of the upgrade. This phase determines if the current upgrade is really to be considered at all. Ideally this should be carried out by Implementation consultants/Key users/IS team who has better understanding of complete setup including pain areas, customizations and Integrations which affects ERP LN directly or indirectly.

Along with the Version Release Infor also releases the document called “Release Notes”, earlier this document was named as “Feature Definition”. This document explains all the new features which were introduced module wise in the current version in comparison to its immediate predecessor.

The team conducting this study should understand the document module by module with careful eyes and come out with the list of real features which will address the pain areas and the ones which improves user experience for the current ERP instance.

If an organization intends to upgrade Infor ERP from version 10.3 to 10.6 they may have to go through release notes 10.4 and 10.5 to capture the useful features of the respective release.

There may be a need for cross functional discussion and a presentation to the Top management based on the study which will pave the way for all other phases to get carried out if the new release is addressing several pain areas.

The Team Enexus have carried out this phase various times for various clients and helped the IS/Key users team to successfully emphasize on key pain areas which address to the respective business users.

Ability of Team Enexus to carry-out this phase with the (new) working version of ERP LN has made real difference which allowed the study team to feel the new features and thereby reducing the duration of this phase. This approach has been much appreciated.
