Pharmacy, Digital Health, and Big-Pharma

Pharmacy, Digital Health, and Big-Pharma

John Nosta – Digital Health Philosopher, with Nosta Lab returns to the Pharmacy Podcast Show to discuss Pharmacy, Digital Health, and Big Pharma.

PODCAST HERE:

We may understand the reasoning of pharma, yet leveraging the power of digital health starts with tradition. Big-pharma is very conservative and old habits are difficult to change, especially when the resistance to change can include barriers like executive management’s unchallenged comfort zones based on the legalities of pharmaceutical manufacturing and the FDA’s over-zealous ‘hand outs’ of million dollar penalties. These reasons for the push back on digital health are understandable, in theory, but completely manageable.

Pharmaceutical manufacturers could benefit greatly with the right partnerships with community pharmacies for patient disease state monitoring, data gathering, and communicating with the inclusion of digital health, mobile health and telehealth technologies. With proper implementation, program management, and patient-centric customer support, big-pharma could gain measurable real time insights about their medications and patient responses, drive adherence, and create customized medication synchronization offerings to ensure the community pharmacy does its part with follow through.

What's your opinion on Big-Pharma leveraging #DigitalHealth?
