Time. Trust is consistency over time. Time is really my only enemy. I guess if it's also my friend, that makes it my frenemy...? More on that down in Career Development. For now - onward to the other two of the 3 topics we cover here - Pharmacy Benefits and Pharmacy Law!
- Thank you - to all who threw their names into the ring to serve on the American Society for Pharmacy Law's board of directors in our next election! Our nominations committee is slating the candidates and elections will be open soon. It's going to be super competitive this year - as we had a ton of great candidates! If you're a member, be sure to watch your inbox soon for the ballot in July, Good luck to all the candidates as well!
- It's not too late - to apply for the Diplomat, ASPL or DASPL year long leadership program with ASPL. Although, the seats are filling up quickly with great applicants here as well! This program was developed to expose mid-career professionals in pharmacy and law to pharmacy law thought leaders in the USA, and to work on their own projects and passions with their mentors 1:1. More on that at the DASPL page, here.
- "I'm a pharmacist, and I'm thinking about law school. Can I pick your brain?" The answer to this will be a resounding YES on Sunday, July 2 at 2:01 pm ET - when I open up a private session on whatnot about pharmacists and law school. I'll cover the good, the bad AND the ugly (and yes, there's all 3 here when going to law school.) This will likely be the ONLY TIME remaining this year where I hold a pharmacy law session like this, because...I'm a little busy with the day job right now and helping to get the DASPL Class II up and running over at ASPL. So, if you've been curious about this double degree opportunity, join the Pharmacy MTMS group on LinkedIn right here and the link to the private show at Whatnot is pinned to the top of that group's conversation. You can grab it there. (Note: the only professionals at this time allowed into the LinkedIn Pharmacy MTMS group are pharmacists, certified pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy students.) If you're new to whatnot, use this code to get in. Yes - full disclosure - it's my affiliate link. If you're a lawyer thinking about pharmacy school, this might not be your session. LOL!
- Let's talk about embracing the suck at work. Mr. Cuban had an interesting interview this week about the one thing that successful people have within them--perseverance. That and we're all free agents. Most of all, he discussed in the article that if you hate your boss, you can use that as a tool to motivate you to get a better job and/or educate yourself on how not to be a manager or boss when it's your turn.
- Generally, terrible bosses are a gift. Trust me, I've had my fair share of bad bosses and not presently, to be clear, (the guilty shall remain nameless), but in retrospect, they were a way to show me how never to act as a manager myself. Would I experience those bad bosses again? Uhm, I'll get back to you on that. But what I appreciate about them now is that I try really hard never to act or be like them. Ever.
- Speaking of perseverance, yes, I'm still trying to figure out whatnot, beyond the info session above. Tonight, it's all about red, white & blue vintage jewelry, and some contemporary jewelry, just in time for our upcoming independence day celebrations! Check it out here, if you dare. If you're new to whatnot you can use the link above. If you'd like to sell on whatnot (trust me, it's a lot harder than it looks), you can skip the hardcore interview cue here. Good luck! My struggle is over at youtube if you want to watch the thrill of victory/agony of defeat.
- My only enemy is time. Try not to hate people or their actions (or lack thereof.) If you're in a bad job or work environment, you have the power to get out, but time is your enemy there. Not the terrible boss or the awful coworkers, or lousy work. It's time. Make time for you. We only have so many hours in the day - so make them count. Get out of that sh!t job or get away from that sh!tty boss by channeling the rage into findings something better and recording how not to be in the future.
- And don't forget - it's nearly halftime on 2023 - Note to self, I'm going to be getting out my one sheet I wrote up for myself on 1/1/23 to check and see where I'm at for the year, since it's almost HALF OVER. (See what I mean about time?!?) To all whom I have coached in the past - pull out those new year's goals and just spot-check them. How are you doing?
- Another halftime technique - is to run across your goals and think about what you want to START doing, STOP doing and KEEP doing. Just by focusing on those 3 little questions, you can crush the second half of your annual goals, oftentimes.
And speaking of time - we're out of it for another newsletter this week. Everyone have a great rest of your weekend, and on to the last week of June and halftime on 2023! ?
