Pharmaceutical instruments does not always have to be ‘calibrated’.

In numerous processes within the pharmaceutical/chemical sector, a large amount of instrumentation needs to be checked and adjusted for reasons such as taxation, high-value products, accounting, batch traceability, and process validation. Typically, these specifically calibrated measuring devices are specialized, bulky, costly, and require significant time for installation and activation.
The question at hand is whether a high-precision, calibrated instrument is always necessary for these measurements. In the case of big chemical plants, measured flows are typically monitored using such a device for accounting and billing. However, the level measurement in storage tanks does not need to be identical - it just needs to be precise enough to guarantee inventory levels meet supply needs, maintain vessel capacity safety, and serve as a backup for more accurate metering systems.
Autoclaves are frequently utilized for sterilizing medical consumables during their production. Each autoclave contains 4 compartments for sterilizing medical items. To control the water level in the condensate tank, a dependable level measurement is needed while working with dry, saturated steam at a pressure of 2.7 bar and a temperature of 130 °C. Measuring the overpressure is also important in ensuring that the autoclaving process is both safe and efficient.
The unfilled capsules and the pellets with active ingredients are kept above the filling machine. A dependable level measurement is needed in this location to guarantee a constant supply to the operation. The capsules are loosely attached and can be separated easily with a vacuum, causing the top part to detach from the bottom part. Then, the pellets are inserted into the bottom section of the capsule. Following the filling process, the capsules are conveyed to the collection containers using a system of hoses. A level detection system functions as a safety measure against overfilling in these containers.
