PCC 3.9 Software is Now Available!
PCC 3.9 software brings significant improvements, including 5x faster mp4 file conversions, particularly noticeable with Cine Raw files, along with a new "bit slider" for precise shadow and highlight adjustment. Additionally, it introduces an MME file export option compliant with the ISO 13499 standard, enhancing compatibility with specific image analysis programs.?
TERRESTIAL GAMMA-RAY FLASHES
Terrestrial gamma-ray flashes (TGFs) are a unique phenomenon discovered in 1992, occurring in high-altitude storm clouds on Earth. Unlike typical gamma-ray emissions observed in space, TGFs are unpredictable, brief bursts of high-energy radiation lasting less than a thousandth of a second, with energies up to 20 million electronvolts. Researchers, including astroparticle physicist Dr. Rasha Abbasi from Loyola University Chicago, are investigating the origins and propagation of TGFs.
A Job Weld Done: How Pulse Lasers and High-Speed Cameras Visualize Extremely Bright Events
The blog post discusses the challenges in optimizing welding techniques due to the difficulty in visualizing the welding process caused by the intense light emitted during welding and the brief duration of the events of interest. However, researchers can overcome these challenges using an advanced imaging technique called pulse laser illumination. This technique combines high-speed cameras with pulse lasers to capture detailed images of the welding process, allowing researchers to gain insights into how to enhance welding methods.
