P&G’s COVID-19 Recovery Efforts Continue

As COVID-19 continues to be a challenge in many parts of the world, P&G remains focused on our three immediate priorities—protecting our people, serving consumers, and supporting communities—so that we can continue to step up and step forward as a force for good and force for growth in this time of need.

While some people and countries seem to be returning to normalcy, there are many others still facing the devastating health effects, social unrest and economic distress caused by the pandemic, and P&G remains committed to continue to Lead With Love by doing acts of good that leverage our resources, reach and business expertise, working closely with our longtime relief partners to provide support throughout the world.

I’ll share some examples of how we’re continuing to step up around the world to help those in need. 

Stepping Up Around the World

We made a $5 million donation to COVAX, a fund established and co-led by GAVI, the Global Vaccine Alliance, to help ensure equitable access to vaccines in more than 90 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe. Our contribution will provide one million vaccines around the world.

In India, we’ve contributed nearly $7 million to help vaccinate more than 500,000 Indian citizens, pledging funds in partnership with government and local authorities. This equates to vaccinations for 100 people for every P&G India employee. We’re also covering the cost of vaccinations for our more than 5,000 P&G employees and their immediate family members. At the same time, we’re also continuing to donate products and in-house produced personal protective equipment (PPE) to aid frontline and essential workers in India and throughout the Asia, Middle East and Africa region. 

In Latin America and North America, we’re continuing to provide grants and product donations as well as donations of PPE, COVID test kits, and virtual education resources through United Way and the Red Cross Societies.

And in Europe, we’ve joined forces with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and National Societies to scale up health and hygiene interventions, vaccinations and economic support. On this Saturday, May 8th, we’ll celebrate World Red Cross Red Crescent Day to recognize their volunteers and staff who give their time and skills to make communities safer, more resilient and more inclusive.

Also this Saturday, May 8th, we’re proudly supporting Global Citizen VAX: LIVE, an event to inspire vaccine confidence worldwide and help get COVID-19 vaccines to everyone, everywhere.

 

The concert will feature many well-known recording artists, public officials and celebrities sharing a universal message of the importance of an inclusive COVID recovery for all. It starts at 8:00 p.m. ET and you can find viewing options here

During the broadcast, you’ll hear more about P&G’s one million vaccine contribution to COVAX, and P&G employees from our Box Elder, Utah, plant will share how they and P&Gers at more than 100 manufacturing sites around the world have been stepping up to serve consumers by supplying our health, hygiene and cleaning products.

For years, we’ve watched the rapid rise of globalization in our world. We’ve watched the power of business and its impact on communities change everything from how we eat to how we travel.? Now it is time to give back. It's heartening to see corporate leaders stepping up to lead. By supporting relief efforts, and investing in protecting healthcare workers, people, and communities, businesses are playing a significant role in helping control the spread of this virus and keeping it from becoming an even bigger crisis.
