PG thesis Experience

As part of my academic journey, I've delved into various research methods, each with its unique purpose. After conducting four quantitative studies, I found myself pondering the tangible benefits research offers to society. It was during this contemplation that I felt drawn towards qualitative inquiry. A significant influence was my Professor's profound passion for qualitative research, which ignited a spark within me to delve deeper into this realm.

Choosing a topic was a daunting task, one that required considerable time and deliberation. I vividly recall the confusion that accompanied this phase of my journey. Engaging with existing literature and bouncing ideas off my peers proved invaluable in navigating this maze of possibilities. My profound connection with an art form, which served as a medium for grieving, finding meaning in experiences, and transcending values, provided the impetus for my research.

There were moments when motivation waned, but gentle reminders from fellow artists, participants in my study, and supportive friends kept me moving forward. My mentor's unwavering encouragement and passion for research served as a constant source of motivation.

Throughout this research endeavor, I've come to appreciate the collaborative effort involved. I've always harbored a desire to give back to the communities and life experiences that have shaped me, and my postgraduate thesis presented an opportunity to do just that.

Exploring themes of Flow state, Spirituality, and Performing arts yielded valuable insights and perspectives. I aspire to share these narratives and lived experiences online through publication.

This journey has provided clarity on the symbiotic relationship between research and addressing gaps in our respective fields. While my study was exploratory, discussions with a friend illuminated the potential therapeutic applications of Flow state from a trauma-informed perspective, fueling my curiosity further.

Beyond the academic achievements, I'm grateful for the personal growth this journey has facilitated. Despite challenges, I take pride in the resilience I've discovered within myself—a transformation that I embrace wholeheartedly. There's no turning back from this newfound resilience, and I eagerly anticipate the opportunities that lie ahead.
