PFAS-free solutions ahead: CheckFire's Business Update
CheckFire Ltd
We have set ourselves to offer an unprecedented level of support to the Fire Trade
With PFAS (fluorine) set to be banned in the EU, CheckFire is dedicated to staying ahead of evolving regulations, providing our trade customers with the products they need to keep their own customers protected.
With the proposed restriction set to come into force across the EU in December 2030, we have been prepping to ensure our trade customers remain compliant with the latest industry standards when the UK introduces its own ban.
Now, we’re proud to announce the launch of our new Green Crosshair PFAS-free fire extinguisher range, which is coming very soon ??
Re-introducing the Green Crosshair
Earlier this year, we introduced The Green Crosshair, a symbol representing PFAS-free fire extinguishers and services under The Green Range. Soon, this symbol will be featured on the cylinder of all fire extinguishers across the Commander and CommanderEDGE range, symbolising their PFAS-free contents, and reinforcing our commitment to environmentally responsible fire safety solutions.
Why PFAS-free fire-fighting solutions matter
Often referred to as ‘forever chemicals’, PFAS are highly persistent in the environment and are linked to long-term risks to ecosystems and human health due to their indestructible composition.
For this reason, some PFAS chemicals have been banned since 2020, with more restrictions to come. This move toward a PFAS-free future is not just about meeting regulations, but about playing our part in environmental sustainability efforts.??
Eco-compliance, without compromising fire safety
Despite the clear need for eco-conscious alternatives in the fire trade, it’s vital the transition to PFAS-free fire extinguishers does not compromise performance or safety. Our 2025 strategy ensures that, when the UK introduces its own PFAS ban, our customers will experience a seamless transition.
Stay ahead of new PFAS-free products and regulations
As part of this transition, some of our PFAS-containing legacy fire extinguishers will be phased-out over the coming months. Excitingly, to support customers through this shift, we’re introducing fluorine-free alternatives to our range very shortly. Expect the same level of quality, performance, and innovation that you have come to know of our products, but this time, fluorine-free.
Customers can easily navigate these changes using our new interactive product map. Which shows our discontinued items and their PFAS-free alternatives, including their current availability timeline, which is updated weekly.
As always, we’re more than a fire safety supplier: we’re fully committed to keeping our customers informed and prepared for the future. To get one step ahead of fire safety, sign up to our newsletter or read our latest fire safety news.?
