The PFA liner spreads over the face of the valve body and places it as the flange gasket. The simply wetted parts of the valve are the PFA disc and liner. The valve body, backup liner, safety packing, springs, bearings, and shafts. They are all isolated from the flowing media and are non-wetted parts. Due to flange kind or material strength limits (FRP, for example), a gasket is needed for proper flange sealing. The PFA liner has a 360-degree, full-width resilient backup liner (Silicone or Viton), which provides the energy for proper sealing. The sealing force of the backup liner is not conditional on flange reduction and acts alone from the pipeline flanges. Upstream / downstream sealing is performed by an interference fit between the disc and liner, compressing the blockage liner. They are utilised for highly corrosive chemicals where more high alloy materials are costlier than lined ones, thus protecting the expensive equipment, extending its life, and assuring superior performance. The material selection for fluorocarbon lining of valves will depend on working situations like chemical and mechanical characteristics of the fluid washing inside the pipe, valves, and temperature.
