Petrofac lands US$800m Khazzan gas field contract in Oman

British oil and gas company Petrofac has been awarded a contract worth approximately US$800m (￡600m) for the second planned phase of the Khazzan gas field in Oman.
The contract for BP involves work to increase total production capacity from the central processing facility to 1,500m standard cubic feet per day of gas.
Production began at the Khazzan field in September after the US$1.4bn (￡1bn) first phase came onstream.
Over the course of its lifetime, around 300 wells are expected to be drilled to recover an estimated 10.5tn cubic feet of gas resources.
