Petra's journey at USP Marketing Consultancy

As our Zagreb office celebrates its 2nd birthday,???? we are thrilled to shine a spotlight on some fantastic individuals who have been with us for the entire two-year journey. To kick off this series, let us introduce Petra ?koki?, our Senior Research Analyst. Read more in our interview with Petra as we share interesting insights into her journey!

Q1: Can you share your experience and growth at USP Marketing Consultancy over the past two years?

I joined USP as a Research Analyst just after the opening of the Zagreb office. I think it was a unique moment because you could feel the excitement of opening the new office and we were all learning together what were the best ways to navigate the online communication and planning, and get to know the Dutch colleagues. It took surprisingly little time for us to feel as a part of the whole USP, even with the distance between us. It has been 2 years now since the Zagreb office had opened, and it is a pleasure to see how much it developed.

Q2: What key responsibilities have you undertaken in your role as a Senior Research Analyst?

I would say the responsibilities I undertook were twofold. On one hand, as a Senior Research Analyst, I became a fully independent researcher on the projects. Of course, there were always senior colleagues I could rely on if any questions arose (thank you Sylvana! ??), but I was free to plan and conduct my work independently. On the other hand, I realized I enjoyed assisting others when problems arose, so my role also encompassed tasks of mentoring and managing newer Research Analysts, and conducting trainings and onboarding.

Q3: How have you contributed to the development of the team and the company culture?

I think undertaking a mentoring role helped me understand the value of active listening and direct communication. I try to actively listen to my colleagues and, what I learned from my own mentor, provide a safe space for everyone to voice their ideas or concerns. Also, it is very important to me to work in an inclusive and accepting community, which USP makes sure to provide.

Q4: What skills have you acquired and refined during your time at USP Marketing Consultancy?

Working in a project-based environment showed me the importance of good planning and prioritization. Especially when working in a team. I feel I learned to communicate the expectations and challenges of the tasks in a much clearer way than I did before; and that is what paves the way for a good teamwork. Also, quite unexpectedly, I found myself enjoying the role of guiding newer colleagues, which highlighted the importance of developing soft skills. These skills proved to be useful in every aspect of life, not just professional context.

Q5: How has USP Marketing Consultancy supported your professional development?

Throughout my journey at USP, I consistently felt the trust and support of my team leaders and mentors, ?which increased my sense of confidence and motivation. They were receptive of ideas or suggestions I might have had, encouraged me in taking more challenging projects, and provided the opportunity to develop into a mentoring role. If you have a suggestion on how to improve something in the organization, my experience is that you are provided space to communicate it, and often turn it into action. And that is a great opportunity to try new things and learn.
