Peter Shaw - An Education In The Making

Peter Shaw

My good friend and an ex-employee Peter Shaw died this week of a brain tumour. He was a genuine gentleman and I only wish I could have been more like Peter. He taught me that one could be hugely competitive (he was an accomplished and excellent racing driver) but still maintain dignity, honour and good humour in victory and defeat.

The world would be a better place if more people were like Peter who dedicated his later career amongst other things to the professional development of young men and women working in the motor industry. He believed in education and continual learning and never ducked an opportunity to learn from others or pass on his immense knowledge and skill. He believed that employers had a duty to develop employees beyond their current role and to their full potential.

He will be greatly missed by me and by many others and leaves a learning legacy at Thatcham that will survive him and be the making of thousands of keen to improve employees in the sector.

Go in peace Peter I miss you.

I went to school with Peter, we lived in the same road and were friends for many years. Five years on I still miss him. As a teenager Peter helped mould my musical taste and interest. Rest in Peace Peter
