I saw this banner at the International Production & Processing Expo this week:
This company sells a machine that does “Intelligent Thigh Deboning”. Not wings, breast, or legs… thighs only.
Granted, I know little of this company or the industry. I am sure they sell equipment that does it all. However, I could not help but notice the size of the machine for a sole purpose. And that caused me to pause…
Focus is important. It is key to success in just about anything. This rather large machine has one sole purpose: debone chicken thighs. How many times do we start out with a “sole purpose or intent” only to quickly expand other directions? I know I am guilty more often than I wish to admit.
Zig Ziglar once said, “I don’t care how much power, brilliance or energy you have, if you don’t harness it and focus it on a specific target, and hold it there you’re never going to accomplish as much as your ability warrants.”
Peter Drucker believed “The single-minded ones, the monomaniacs, are the only true achievers.”
One of my goals is to be less of a Swiss Army knife in many aspects of my life. What about you?
