Facing uncertainty in the marketplace and with a steady stream of bills coming in, many are trying their hand at sales. Insurance, benefits, day trading, starting YouTube channels, you name it as long as it brings some income. As it happens in sales, sales professionals make connections and pitch their product or service. (Maybe an oversimplification but stick with me for a moment.)
This interaction often is followed by the related meme depicting the "accepted a connection request to immediately receive a sales pitch" experience as pesky.
Be mindful that these are unprecedented times and that we are all trying to get through them. Demoralizing someone with a rude response should not be anyone's go-to reaction.
Below are some alternative ways to react to such an experience:
1) Do not accept the connection request.
2) If the sales pitch came after you accepted the connection request,
a) Don't reply
b) Reply saying you are not interested
c) Remove the connection
Any of these responses can be accomplished in mere seconds and do not negatively impact anyone's day. Remember that we are each just trying to earn a living the best way we know how.
