Pescanova deal would catapult Cooke close to seafood’s top five

If Cooke is successful in inking a deal for a majority stake in Spain's Grupo Nueva Pescanova, the Canadian firm would move to the edge of seafood's top five largest companies in turnover, according to?Undercurrent News' annual sector ranking.?

On Sunday, Spain's?Faro de Vigo?revealed the deal talks are underway, which was confirmed?by?Undercurrent News?sources.

Cooke ranks 13 on the soon-to-be-released?World's 100 Largest Seafood Companies, Tenth Edition, for?which you can sign up for a free sample here. Nueva Pescanova is number 21 on the list.

So, a successful deal for Pescanova would push Cooke to around $4 billion in turnover, moving close to Thai Union Group, which is the current number five.
