Pesa hath ki mel hai ( money is like the dust of hand or money is not/unimportant)!
I travel via metro, to and fro from home to office and vice versa. One day while going back home I took an auto for a 10-15 mins ride to reach my home from a nearby metro station (like I usually do). Had my earphones on, informed my family that I have taken an auto to home (because it is such a safe place -Delhi/NCR), and right after started enjoying my playlist.
I reached my destination on time, the fare was Rs.60, I pulled out a hundred ruppees note and waited for change, the auto driver said something, so I took my earphones out and listened...
Auto Driver- "I took one Madam from metro station to XYZ college (The college I can't forget- because it was my post-grad. college too), the auto driver continued...
She didn't have a change of Rs 80. So I told her to give it to me tomorrow and so she gave her phone number to collect the fare the next day. It has been four days and the number she gave is wrong or not reachable, I do not have any smartphone to assist with online payments, I am not updated.
But I trusted her to give me my money (his eyes were moist as if he has lost his faith in humanity)".
I listened.
He said: "Pesa hath ki mel hai, I will earn that money sooner".
I couldn't say anything.
Few possibilities ran in my mind, why madam didn't give the hard-earned money to the auto driver. Was it just a story, all made up? It didn't feel like, then what happened?
Did she literally forgot about this poor man who is making living out of every day by taking people to their destination on/in time. Did she just forget?
His words struck me hard. "PESA HATH KI MEL HAI"
A casual line which I have used for fun to pay out bills or to make friends pay bills.
Is it some line that people use for their convenience? Oh YEs! it is.
Poor or Rich use it for giving comfort, either for self or to someone else.
I hope that madam realizes soon and goes out of her way to give this auto driver his fare for I am a true believer of people. Should I be a true believer in Karma too?
