Peru Poised for Major Grape Harvest as Industry Projects 80 Million Boxes

The Peruvian Association of Table Grape Producers and Exporters (Provid) has announced an optimistic forecast for the 2024-2025 season, projecting a harvest of 78.7 million boxes of table grapes, each weighing 8.2 kilograms. This estimate, based on input from associates and producers, highlights a promising season ahead for Peru’s grape industry.

After experiencing setbacks in the previous season due to adverse weather conditions, particularly in the country’s northern regions, grape production is expected to bounce back. This recovery demonstrates the resilience and adaptability of Peru’s grape sector, which continues to strengthen its position as a competitive force in the global market. The industry is not only overcoming challenges but also evolving to meet changing consumer preferences. One of the key strategies has been the adoption of new, more productive grape varieties that cater to global demand.

Peru’s grape exports will reach over 50 international markets during this season, with the United States, China, Europe, and Latin America being key destinations. Grape production is widespread along Peru’s coastal regions, with Ica leading the way at 49% of total production, followed by Piura at 37%. Other producing regions include Lambayeque (6%), La Libertad (5%), Arequipa (3%), Ancash (0.5%), Lima (0.5%), and Moquegua (0.1%).
