Persuasion in Copywriting It’s Overrated

We’ve all been told that writing persuasive copy is the key to success.
But, can we be honest for a second? Persuasion doesn’t work like it used to.
Think about it.
Do you like being convinced to do something? Probably not.
You want to feel understood, heard, and connected. That’s the magic we’re missing in most copies today.
So, let’s break it down.
?? Persuasion is overrated.
Instead of convincing people to act, aim to connect with them. We crave genuine human connections, and that’s where the power lies.
Speak their language, understand their fears and desires, and offer a solution that feels personal, not forced.
?? Forget the ‘perfect’ CTA.
People don’t want to feel like they’re just another number on your sales list.
‘Buy now!’ feels like pressure.
Instead, create urgency by highlighting what they could gain or miss out on.
It’s about guiding them to take action while subtly emphasizing the importance of acting now.
?? Ditch the buzzwords.
Imagine you’re sitting across from your reader, sharing a cup of coffee. Will you throw buzzwords at them like ‘synergy’ or ‘game-changer’? Probably not.
You’re going to speak from the heart, with words that are simple, human, and honest.
That’s how trust is built.

?? Keep it simple.
The longer you talk, the more you lose people.
You don’t need a mountain of words to get your message across.
Short, clear sentences win every time.
?? Tell a story they won’t forget.
Here’s the thing:
People don’t remember stats.
They remember stories.
A well-told story sticks in their mind far longer than any number or fact.
Whether it’s a story about how your product solved someone’s problem or how a personal experience shaped your perspective, storytelling connects people on a deep, emotional level.
So, here’s the real question: Are you connecting or just convincing?
Next time you sit down to write, forget about ‘persuasion.’
Instead, focus on creating moments of connection. Write like you’re talking to someone who needs to hear what you have to say.
Your audience is waiting for the right words, you and I can make it happen.
Thank you for reading. Until next time!

1 周Wow Anca! This is a very refreshing perspective that you’ve put on here. The way you have explained it really would stay with me. Never thought about it this way. While we are going on so much about the power of persuasion, we gave it little thought about connecting more and selling less!
