PERSPECTIVES: WAS OMAROSA USED, AND IS SHE "REAPING WHAT SHE SOWED."

PERSPECTIVES: WAS OMAROSA USED, AND IS SHE "REAPING WHAT SHE SOWED."

Some people will thoroughly enjoy the fall and disgrace of Omarosa, while others will view the public reaction of the Black community as somewhat harsh. The Black community already has numerous stereotypes that aren't accurate or deserved, and as a member of that same community, I cannot speak for everyone, but I can offer my personal perspective.

Many people believe that Omarosa INTENDED to do what she felt and thought was a good thing for the Black community. However, based on public reaction, most of those people were not people Black people. These same people also support the presidency of Donald Trump, who, in turn, consistently expresses racist attitudes and is systematically eliminating policies, legislation and practices that have protected or benefited marginalized groups, which also include Blacks. Despite Omarosa's claims, she seems to be an opportunist who persuades Trump into offering her a position in the Whitehouse based primarily on her experiences with him on the reality TV show "the Apprentice." Publicly,

Omarosa has never been viewed as a leader in the Black community, and often insults or attacks members of the Black community without hesitation. Her opposition is not because she's a republican. Colin Powell is a republican and he doesn't receive the negativity that Omarosa does from the Black community. Neither does republican Condoleezza Rice.

The "shade"Omarosa is receiving is not political, it's social and racial. Despite her claims, Omarosa has been more of a thorn than a beacon within the Black community even before the election of Trump. Once she hitched her wagon to the Teflon Don, her reputation within the Black community worsened as she defended many of his policies and actions that negatively affect the Black community. The fact that she made the infamous comment about the president making a list and having a long memory, and that people will be bowing down to the most powerful man in the universe only cements her position in the Black community as an adversary at worst, or a lost soul to be pitied at best.

The buzz going around now is that she may spin this latest event into a book where she defends her actions, and attempts to develop an image of her as a victim of both the Whitehouse, and the Black community. In today's polarized climate and politically tense environment, Omarosa may get the attention and sympathy she seems to seek but probably not from the Black community, whom she refers to as "her people." She has not been successful in improving relationships between the Whitehouse and the African American community for two basic and obvious reasons.

1. She is not the best representative of the African American community and has always had a strained relationship because of her attacks, abrasiveness, and her support of organizations and individuals who directly oppose Black organizations and their causes. In short, the African American community would never pick Omarosa to represent our collective concerns; not in a million years. Even Al Franken, a White male politician resigning under scrutiny, better represents Black advocacy more than Omarosa. If that doesn't make my point, I don't know what will!

2. The current administration in the Whitehouse under Trump has no interest in improving race relations whatsoever as evident in the actions and comments of thee Teflon Don and all those he appointed to key positions in his administration. From General Kelly to Steve Bannon to Mike Pence, none of these individuals have any concern or interest in addressing racial tensions whatsoever. They never have before, and it seems that they never will. They ignore facts, research data, and public outcries for social justice at every turn, and seem focuses on eliminating Obama's legacy of achieving a more pluralistic society by empowering the non marginalized, the rich, and neo-Christian and right wing republican conservatives. Based on these conditions, hiring Omarosa to improve racial relations would be like hiring Bill O'Reilly to improve gender equity and women's rights at the Whitehouse. So Yes...it's like that!

And before anyone brings up the fact that Dr. Ben Carson still has a place in the Whitehouse, my response is simply this. Yes...he still has a job, one he's not qualified for. His place in the Black community is also well established, and not in a positive light. He will likely remain in office until the Teflon Don's terrible reign is over, but......he does not represent the bulk of the Black community because he also doesn't support Black causes in general.

Though this has taken place in a political arena, this is not a political issue. It's an issue of racial support and cultural denial. Either you support Black communities in their struggle towards racial equality and equity, or you don't....regardless of your race or political affiliation. It's really that simple.

So..."Bye Felicia"....I hope that book deal works out for you, because you have little else to fall back on at this point in your career. Maybe, one day, you'll wake up and realize the real enemy isn't race....it's ignorance, arrogance and greed.

That's my perspective.........what's yours?

Such profound rhetoric

She is who she is. We all have never been the same, and we should continue to be unique. Trump did not make her! She is charting her way towards her ambitious goal. We may not agree with her approaches and her choices, everything carries a cost. Stay positive. Love more. Forgive yourself. Thank somebody whom you have never thanked before. I hope every one get the good things they want from now on! One Love ??

Omarosa is experiencing a tough time with the world against her. She has to be tough. She has to fight back. I applaud her courage. In time, all will be better for her. ????

I didn't know she had a position in the Trump administration. Therefore I was shocked when I heard she had gotten the ax. With that being said she will do just fine. She is opportunistic and will bounce back in no time. She will put a spin on this and no doubt come out on top.
