Personally, I'm Delighted by Trump!

I’m grateful for the Donald. As a Positive Psychology practitioner I believe that every crisis is an opportunity. The GOP’s implosion, notwithstanding the real pain and humiliation individuals and communities are suffering because of Mr. Trump, offers an opportunity for the United States as well as the rest of the world. Donald has unintentionally brought much needed attention to gender equity issues that have long plagued so many of us women and men.

In a matter of months I will have been alive for a half century. Within that time, I will have been physically aggressed and/or groped by strangers 11 times.  The most recent was last year in a workplace setting. Those 11 episodes do not include the countless number of times I’ve been accosted verbally in the ways Trump has apparently done so many times to countless women:  adults, teens and children.

Nevertheless! The news is good! The GOP’s selected and endorsed someone who represents the worst of some men’s attention towards many women! He has a world stage and we can, and have already, benefitted from all of his offenses. Imagine the press his vitriol receives all over the world. As an American living in the EU, who travels extensively to myriad countries, I’m delighted by the reactions and responses of disparate communities who recognize his stupidity. More importantly, perhaps, is that these reactions raise awareness for gender equity for all of us everywhere. There is a spectrum of violence against women in every country on our planet. Some of this is subtle prejudice, some is more overt and obvious and some includes death – the comprehensive denial of a woman’s self-expression and worth because she has transgressed a cultural value that a larger community holds as truth.

Let us then, while we honor, empathize and support the many victims of Trump’s unwanted attention, use this perfect storm to address one of humanity’s most embarrassing and nonsensical realities. If you’re not a part of the solution you are a part of the problem. Carpe diem and help humanity evolve to resplendent capabilities! Thank you, Donald!

No one should have to deal with what has happened to you, but unfortunately it does happen. I don't think that will ever change. In no way do I condone his behavior, IF, the allegations against him turn out to be true. I personally have never liked the man, thinking he was pompous and arrogant. But he is the LESSER of two evils. And by FAR, an extreme amount, he is the lesser of two evils. He is untouchable so far by the left-controlled and paid-for media. That alone makes him good for America by itself. We haven't had that in decades. I will never like him, but he will get my vote. But don't throw stones at him just yet. Remember, he was a Democrat before he became Republican. The same way Hillary was for tighter immigration control before she was against it. So these "incidents" took place when he was still a Democrat. That still doesn't make it right. Did you vote for a rapist named Bill Clinton? Are you going to vote for a radical communist Saul Alinsky worshiper and pen-pal named Hillary? Hillary is more than willing to allow her husband to rape you and cover it up with threats. And they do have a way of covering things up. Do you know anything about this woman at all? Do you know anything about her fake husband at all? Bill slept with Hillary, at least once, to have a kid to make it appear like they were a real couple, actually married, not just on paper. They are together for one reason and one reason only. Power. EVIL power. The evil in this couple made in Hell rivals Stalin's, Pol Pot's, Kim Jun Ill's, and ex-Nazi George Soros. She has a plan for us. One you better hope doesn't materialize.

While I love the way one sees the positive in all this, I cannot help but feel there ought to be better, less antagonistic, less downright appalling ways of putting these issues on the table. The language, the lack of moral guidance of any sort from a potential 'world leader' bodes ill in my view for the future - some people truly believe him. Just read the Twitter exchanges!

More than a silver lining, Jeneva, Thanks! Indeed out of controversy can come cultural growth. I think everyone is looking at both 'parties' of the controversy and no longer, blindly, choosing a team. My prediction and hope is that there will be more Independent voters on the other side of this election, which is a healthy political change. I may be wrong about more people becoming independent. And, to be clear, I am solidly for HRC not because she is NOT Republican or because she IS Democrat, but because HRC offers the best choice, and will continue to, for example, champion gender equality (among other good work she does). That DJT is the lightning rod for this is par rather than surprising. Just seeing how many men and women line-up and offer blind excuses has really opened many eyes. Men reading this: seize this opportunity to listen to your own voice and learn how your language subtly subjugates others. Ever use the word 'Darlin'? Well, it is not gentlemanly. It is using your vocal chords to grab others by their gender. Really.
