*Personality in Organizational Behavior refers to the unique combination of traits, characteristics and behavioral patterns that individuals exhibit in the context of the workplace.
*It encompasses various psychological aspects such as attitudes, values, motivation, beliefs and behaviors that shape how individuals interact with others and approach their work tasks within an organizational setting.
*Many people describe Personality by a single dominant feature but in reality it is the other way round.
*At Workplace personality plays an important role. How a person conducts oneself displays different emotions and imbibes certain moods and attitudes in a particular situation can be seen clearly when one interacts with others.
*Personality includes the inborn traits received from parents and other behavioural traits imbibed over a considerable period of time.
*As individuals are different their personalities are also different.
*Personality describes the growth and development of a person’s psychological system. It encompasses the sum total of ways in which an individual reacts to and interacts with others.
*Personality influences Workplace Behavior.
*If an organization knows the personality of a person beforehand it can help in hiring the ?right person for the right job.
*Though employees follow the rules of the organization, it is their personality which makes or mars their performance.

?What is the right kind of personality people should exhibit at the workplace?
*Let us first understand what traits we need to possess and develop for having an effective personality.
*Clarity of Goals- Being steadfast and clear is what matters. What you want to do in your life should be clear in your mind.
*Listening- Listening with full attention is more important than communicating.
*Though a lot of programmes are held on how to communicate better, few are mentioning the importance of listening. Mr. Ratan Tata used to listen with rapt attention to what the other person had to say.
*Persistence and Convincing Attitude-In addition to good communication skills, she was very convincing in her attitude. It is good to be convincing in one’s attitude. Dealing with people from different strata and age group is another skill.
*Empathy- when Mother Teresa was young she had a problem dealing with emotions. She used to hardly respond to other’s feelings and ignore the emotional side of a situation. But later on she developed strong emotional ties, compassion and became sensitive to other’s feelings. Due to exposure to different cultures she became flexible and down to earth. Mother’s ability to reach out to people was commendable.
*Mastering Task- Some people are very determined to see the tasks to the finishing point.
*Intense Awareness-Being consciously aware about the requirements of others around helps.
*Tenacity-When we hear Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath suffering a mild stroke it indicates the amount of stress people have in their lives. Some people handle challenges with greater tenacity than others. Is this to suggest that there is something important in a person which determines a person’s response to stress? Well this significant aspect could be Personality.
*Aggression in a person is also correlated to the coping style adopted by a person. So how one deals with stress to some extent depends on one’s personality and the coping style one adopts.
