Personal take on recent events

I’ve always kept the personal out of business, knowing “it’s not about me” and understanding the folly of talking politics in business. But showing respect and supporting our Black American compatriots (our society) is not political. It’s 2020 and Black Americans are still dealing with human rights violations and violence! Sadly, most leaders aren’t articulating the big picture and can’t walk and chew gum at the same time when it comes to helping citizens comprehend what is going on and how we can make things better. Is it that difficult to communicate that there is one main issue? That Black Americans continue to suffer inequity and institutional violence and we should be disgusted with ourselves that we have not pressed our elected officials harder to implement the urgent reforms. The second issue, a byproduct of the first, is that there are dirtbags of every creed and race taking advantage of democratic civil rights protests and stealing from businesses that are already suffering during pandemic period. Law and order is definitely a major quality of life factor Americans take for granted. The looting is abhorrent and we need to address it. But it’s NOT the key topic and it's a slap in the face of Black Americans to not maintain focus on the main issue of ongoing immoral inequities and the need for immediate reforms. Sure, lets talk about other important things going on, we can walk and chew gum, but we’re disrespecting Black Americans by not articulating to those who respect you, how we need to prioritize our outrage. If we're focused on anything but the main issue, we're off course and we're not helping! Felt like I need to make a statement, there it is. This is an issue where everyone needs to speak up. RIP George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and countless others.

Thanks for putting into words. We need to prioritize our outrage and not get distracted. There are so many issues to be solved right now but basic human rights come first.
