Unlocking the Power of Emotional Control: Stretching Your Strength!
How do you find controlling your emotions? Are you the calm swan on the exterior no matter what the situation around you? If so Emotional Control might be a strength of yours.
If Emotional Control is your strength you will consistently remain calm in emotionally charged situations, you're likely to be an absolute asset to your organisation, especially when those situations involve proposing changes or navigating emotive topics.
In the podcast, we explore how Emotional Control can be a driving force in team motivation, handling conflict with ease, and even being a calming presence in stressful situations. However, like any strength, when it's displayed to its extreme it has its downsides. The key is understanding when to dial it down and how to show enough emotion to connect with others and not be perceived as aloof or robotic
We also address the importance of acknowledging and processing your own emotions, even if outwardly you appear calm and composed. It's okay to show your emotions, and the podcast provides insights into finding the right balance. From handling disappointment to experiencing the excitement of achieving your goals, allowing yourself to feel a range of emotions contributes to your overall well-being.
For those for whom Emotional Control?may not be a natural strength, the podcast offers guidance on recognising impulsive and oversharing tendencies, providing practical tips on how to slow down, take a breath, and make deliberate choices in live situations.
Whether emotional control is one of your strengths or drains your energy, the podcast provides valuable insights and practical tips to optimise this strength.
Ever wondered why some work gives you a buzz and other tasks drain your energy?
To me, it's clear that as humans, we are all unique and as a result, we differ massively, person to person, in what motivates us and makes us happy, particularly in the workplace.
Being happy and energised in the work you do each day means you enjoy going to work knowing that you are adding value in your way and that you are appreciated by your colleagues for your unique input.
Are you clear on what motivates and energises you to get things done? How do you like to work to get your results at work? Or does work sometimes feel like a struggle, procrastinating and struggling to achieve your goals?
The 30-Minute Formula is our guide to maximum productivity as a leader! It will help you understand what your 'Execution' strengths are and guide you to prioritise which are most energising to you.
Understand how the greatest managers are getting the best out of themselves and their teams in 2024!
When you are finished you will be able to rank and describe each of your Execution strengths. This helps you recognise why you sometimes feel highly motivated, and at other times feel deflated, bored or disengaged with work. Once you’ve identified your most energising Strength you can look for and identify opportunities to use it more – you will then achieve more with increased levels of energy, and more of that buzz!

Are you a Strengthscope Practitioner?
Have you worked through the Strengthscope Accreditation, been wowed by the power of the tool and are now considering how you will take it back and embed it in your workplace?
Do you need any support delivering individual debriefs, coaching, team workshops or help through consulting to support embedding Strengthscope into your organisation?

I remember from my corporate days when I was running programmes using Strengthscope sometimes extra resource for running debriefs would have been really useful. I can support you with this!
Alternatively, I can support you as an external?ILM Level 7 Coach and Mentor?who is also a Strengthscope Master. An external coach can be valuable in scenarios where sharing inside the organisation can be challenging for individuals. The coaching really helps to embed the strengths knowledge.?
Also, if you are running Team workshops and you’d like an extra pair of hands to support on the day or someone to take over and run one for you I can support there too.?
Or perhaps you just want someone to brainstorm strengths solutions with, someone who has been there, on a one-to-one consultancy basis get in touch. Proudly I am a Strengthscope Associate so support them and can support you too!
Don't forget, you can also join our Strengthscope Action Learning group for support from a group of Strengthscope practitioners! Drop me an email for the link to the next one on the 18th July at 9.30am (UK time). The session is informal, it is 90 minutes, but we only ask for people to commit to the first 60 minutes. Drop me a message if you'd like to join.
Personal Strengths Coaching Workshops...
We have three different workshops running over the next three months.
Firstly on the 11th July, I will be running a session on The Power of Nature, Nurture, Reflection and Planning of Strengths! Personal Strengths Coaching's Thrive programme has been designed to incorporate the best interactions different organisations have used over the last three years to support their succession. In this session, I will be sharing the step-by-step breakdown of the process to implement my strengths coaching solution into your business!
Secondly the Relational Strengths workshop, on the 30th July. This is the workshop if you want more energised people and focus on relationships not just tasks. If you want to learn more about the strengths that will help you have more productive relationships within your teams at work book on now.
Lastly, after the success of the last session, on the 24th September we are re-running our session on Strengths, Mental Health and Wellbeing, myself and Anna Harrington (Registered Public Health Nurse Specialist in occupational health) will walk through Mental Health and Wellbeing, discussing the part that understanding and optimising strengths plays in enabling individual and team performance. The last session was fully booked within days so don't delay in booking on!
Top Tips: Start building a Strengths Language.
Start talking about Strengths, build them into the conversation!
Do this by:
By making strengths a part of the language you are starting to implement a more positive culture. Building openness and trust in terms of your Strengths will encourage others to consider their own strengths and start to share what they find most energising. Creating openness around Strengths will lead to more opportunities for individuals to optimise strengths, resulting in more of that buzz of motivation and energy at work!
I hope you found these insights on strengths helpful.
Who have you decided to share which of your strengths with during July?
Wishing you an energised month ahead!
Please reach out if you have any other questions about optimising strengths. We look forward to connecting again soon.
Warm regards,
Nic
