Personal Perspectives on Career Growth

No two career paths are alike — they are personal reflections of our individual passions, skills, ambitions, and life experiences. But that doesn’t mean you’re on your journey alone! Our LinkedIn community can connect you to opportunities where you can show up as your fullest self, in roles that align with your unique identity. In today’s newsletter, we’ve brought together perspectives from trailblazing leaders like Barack Obama and Malala Yousafzai that demonstrate both the diversity and potential of the individual career journey, as well as the value of learning from others.

Former President Obama on the Meaning of Work

Following the launch of his Netflix docuseries “Working: What We Do All Day,” former President Barack Obama joined LinkedIn Editor in Chief Daniel Roth to discuss what he learned in his more micro-scale look at the workplace — his perspective on the search for meaning at work, how AI will impact our jobs, and the advice he has for workers around the world.

Tune in to # ThisIsWorking to find out Obama’s top career advice, how he believes “some of work is just a grind” and what he thinks people are really looking for in their roles. Please wish a successful employment opportunity. I am a non- registered (ASCP) Clinical Laboratory Science Tech and I am having a very hard time finding employment or a job in the clinical Laboratory industry. I only get rejected because I do not have my ASCP certification. Any suggestions or help from anyone would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you so very much. I have 30+yrs. experience in the Hematology Department, but my experience doesn't seem to count whatsoever to employers.

I have many years 30+ working as a Clinical Laboratory Science Tech in the Hematology Department of a clinical medical Laboratory. I seem to be having a very hard time finding employment opportunities in the clinical Laboratory. When I graduated, I was employed already within the diagnostic company I had been working for and never got my ASCP license because it wasn't required of me at that time since I was already a member of their staff within the laboratory. Now, the company that I spent my entire career with is relocating out of state thereby laying off all their employee's. I have been searching and applying to various positions, however, I seem to be only receiving a negative reply or I am not eligible because I do not have an ASCP certification, so it has just been total rejection or limited opportunities due to this fact. It seems that my years of experience and knowledge especially of instrumentation operations and microscopic examinations have absolutely no value to any employer or my experience is invalid because I have no certification. I feel very devalued and very disheartened and upset, feeling as though I will not be able to become employed whatsoever and I will become financially destroyed. Any helpful ideas?
