Will a personal LinkedIn profile be enough in 2023?

Social media has been said to be the first contact to a brand for buyers/consumers, about 88% of users look up a brand or business online before making decisions. LinkedIn is the world’s leading social network for professionals with more than 830 million users in over 200 countries according to stats shared. That’s more than 10% of the total world population!?
Your company/brand has the opportunity to sit in front of 10% of the world with a LinkedIn company page. If the numbers don’t already do the talking, here are 5 reasons why you should add LinkedIn to your company's strategy for 2023:
1. Recruitment
LinkedIn has one of the best pools of candidates. On TikTok (a video app with 70% of its audiences being millennials and Gen Z), you are most likely to see a ‘how to land your dream job on LinkedIn’ and similar other career videos on your FYP (for-you-page). And in the comments, you’ll find that many of the "employable population" use LinkedIn for their job search. I personally used LinkedIn for my job search in 2021.
Getting your company on LinkedIn will give you access to a wide pool of candidates and reduce your cost of recruiting new hires through different mediums.?
2. Employee Advocacy
Research into trust levels shows that people trust ordinary, mid-level employees more than CEOs. This just means that when your employees link their job experience section on their personal LinkedIn profile to your company's name, your brand’s trust level goes higher and you build credibility. LinkedIn has made content sharing for employees easy with the ‘employee advocacy feature.??
LinkedIn estimates that for every six pieces of content an employee shares, they can influence six job views, three company page views, six profile views, two new connections, and one new page follower which overall increases your brand awareness and the lead-generating capabilities of your profile.
In marketing speak, content shared by employees has nearly double the click-through rate (CTR) of shares at the corporate level. All you need to do now is ensure that your employees link their profile to your company page, are well-connected in the industry you want to do business and share your content from LinkedIn’s employee advocacy feature.?

3. Company Updates
Just closed a new partnership deal? Add LinkedIn to your PR activities. LinkedIn is a good new media platform you can leverage in addition to your press release in major media outlets. You can share company updates and get more visibility for your event (see next point)
Show the world (or 10% of the world on LinkedIn) your CSR activities, new products and services and their impact on your industry or target market.
4. Brand Visibility?
This is the main reason why businesses get on social media platforms. Setting up a LinkedIn company page increases the visibility of your business, your products and your services and has the opportunity to reach LinkedIn’s 830 million+ users.?
Here’s how that works, when you post on your company page and a LinkedIn user engages with your content (likes, comments, shares etc), your content shows up in their feed and their followers can also interact with it. It goes on like a ripple effect, of course, your content must be engaging.?You can also run brand awareness ads that will further put your brand in front of your target audience.
5. An Opportunity Haven for B2B Services
There are 57 million organisations on LinkedIn, which is an ample amount of prospects for businesses that offer B2B services. Most of my B2B marketing activities have been on LinkedIn, however, a good advertiser will have different platforms for different personas so keep exploring.?
As we continue to see a rise in the uptake of social media for personal and business reasons, it is expected that LinkedIn’s audience size will keep soaring which means leveraging LinkedIn as a company tool for generating revenue and visibility is key in 2023.
