A Personal Journey to Authentic Wellness

A Personal Journey to Authentic Wellness

As this year comes to a close, its a time many of us reflect on the past year - the moment gaze back at the roller-coaster ride of experiences. I've experienced the beautiful, the challenging, and the downright messy. Yes, life, after all, is a bit of a cinematic masterpiece—a plot with highs and lows, unexpected twists, turns and scenes that tug at the heart.

Admittedly, there were moments when life felt like a struggle. But, nestled within those challenges were invaluable lessons and growth. It was a case of turning setbacks into stepping stones.

I just wanted to share my experiences and hope by doing this, it helps you to step into your power and become more resilient so you too can become authentically you.

Discoveries and Lessons

Most of 2023 was spent listening and learning. To become the best healer for my clients, guiding them toward physical, mental, and emotional well-being, I had to go through my own transformative healing journey.

It meant shedding preconceived notions, untangling past programming, and addressing deep-seated traumas that followed me around like a shadow. These elements silently influenced my health, yet I perceived them as 'normal.' It took a long time to realise that our world's definition of 'normal' is far from the truth.

If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.” ― Walter Langer

Moving Forward

Imagine walking with me to the gym on a cruise ship. I was in the part where all the mats are...the area where you can stretch or do your own workout. I was finishing up my stretches when a lady with short blond hair and wearing black sports gear walked up to me. She said “you are beautiful inside and out”. I looked at her, not quite knowing what to say. I smiled awkwardly as she continued, “you are going to help so many people but you need to do your own healing first”.

I said “are you a mind reader or something?” She smiled and walked away leaving me open mouthed like I’d just watched a magic trick, where the magician makes the unbelievable happen and then disappears.

This was nearly 4 years ago, but its stuck with me. She was right. I did need to go through my own healing. In order for me to help others and be the best I can be, I had to let go of my own inner demons. I had to experience what I would potentially be helping my clients with.

This year became a mosaic, piecing together the events of the last six years into a framework to aid others. Moving forward, my practice will adopt a truly holistic approach, delving into all aspects of my clients' well-being, surpassing the narrow focus of dietary habits.

I've come to understand that, knowingly or unknowingly, we are all carrying some level of trauma in a disordered world. True healing involves battling and overcoming your inner demons. It transforms your perspective; junk food loses its attractive, nature becomes a sanctuary, and self-care becomes a non-negotiable. Most importantly, you unearth the real you—the woman buried for too long under layers of sludge, societal programming, and false beliefs.

"The way we experience the world around us is a direct reflection of the world within us." - Gabrielle Bernstein
