Personal conclusion of a pitching startup

Personal conclusion of a pitching startup

Yesterday I was able to pitch for our startup SANG.art at the 1st Saxon Business Angel Day #SBAD in Dresden (Germany).

I rarely talk about personal things. But I just have to get it off my chest. I am filled with pride and gratitude!

It fills me with pride that futureSAX - die Innovationsplattform des Freistaates Sachsen has chosen us as one of the most exciting startups in Saxony. I would like to thank FutureSax and in particular Claudia Landrock , Jessica Lietze and Marina Heimann a for the invitation and the opportunity to pitch our tech startup in front of around 60-80 business angels and then present it at our own stand.

#Preparation

For such an opportunity, every startup should give everything to present the very best. In addition to the fantastic FutureSax pitch workshop that took place beforehand (which I now consider mandatory for every startup), we worked on our MVP until the evening before. I also received training from two communication professionals on pronunciation, posture and how to deal with nervousness, and I must have gone through the pitch 100 times.

#NoteverythingRunsSmoothly

It's the challenges that start-ups and every company have to deal with. For example, the advertising material we ordered was either not delivered at all or was sent to the wrong address. So just-in-time. Switch from physical to digital presentation!

#DayX @ #SABD

Arrived in time to prepare my stand. Lots of open, interested business angels, fantastic supporting program. Until I stood on the stage (as the only startup) there was a deep, balanced calm. "It was my stage".

Pitch started, presented and .... messed up. Lost 15 seconds and instead of a clean finish, pointed out the "3 most important key figures in yellow". Pooh done.

#DividedPerception

My perception was 100% good preparation, presentation messed up due to nervousness. Result not satisfactory for me personally.

But the feedback from the Angels looked completely different. I delivered a good pitch and finished the missing time with a confident sentence that made the Angels smile or laugh. In addition, a well-prepared stand with great conversations.

#Focus

Every business angel knows their own investment focus. As a startup, you should do everything you can to know which angel is coming to the event and is right for you. In my case, all the facts and my intuition told me that I wanted to get to know @Titus Lindl.

#Pitch

ConclusionReally give it your all before and during the pitch. Your perception is not always the same as others and stay absolutely focused. Accept all feedback and turn it to your advantage.

#Karma

Am I esoteric? Zero. But I firmly believe that destiny rewards the hardworking and focused with a bit of luck (= fate). That's how I came to meet Titus Lindl in person at the exit door. What a joy and fulfillment.

I am now looking forward to many more discussions with the business angels and hopefully we will soon be able to close the first round for www.sang.art.
