Personal Care Kits help fill the gap after a fire at a shelter

In early June 2024, there was a fire in the Second Avenue Commons building in Pittsburgh that affected around 180 unhoused individuals taking shelter there, and they had to move to another facility without access to their belongings. Global Links provided 100 Personal Care Kits and other supplies and equipment that community partner agencies identified as a need for the unhoused residents.

Made up of the most commonly requested hygiene products by our Community Partner organizations for their clients, these Personal Care Kits contain toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, soap, shampoo, deodorant and lotion. These products are key to general health, employability, personal dignity and well-being, and at the same time, they are NOT covered by SNAP benefits (food stamps) or other government assistance programs.

You can help pack these kits and make a difference. Learn how to get involved here: https://globallinks.org/get-involved-volunteer/volunteer/
