Personal Branding Tips For Introverts, From An Introvert - Tangible Steps You Can Take

Personal Branding requires us to put ourselves out there, to create content, make connections and expose ourselves to an increased level of vulnerability and public scrutiny, which can be an intimidating process for introverts.

If you prefer being in smaller circles and avoid the public eye on social media channels, the idea of posting vulnerable content all over the place, giving talks, joining webinars, and connecting in a big room of people might sound like a nightmare.

It’s understandable, however, it can limit your potential career growth.

Today I would count myself as an introverted extrovert leader, which means to me: I can choose to be extroverted while I choose when it’s also best for me to remain introverted.

My first video in 2021 about my coaching business.

I remember the day I first time put a video of myself out there when I started my coaching business in 2021.

The first time I did an Instagram Live with someone, I ate a whole chocolate bar, because I felt so nervous.

My voice was a way higher and more sounded like a ‘’little girl’’ just trying her best.

In primary school I used to hate presentations or times I had to read loud in class.

Teachers always told me that I never ask questions, that I’m too shy and quiet.

In group work, I would always remain in the corner with tons of thoughts, but I didn't say what I wanted to say.

I will share with you 3 steps you can take as an introvert to build a personal brand that stands out:

1. Start With Written Content and Repeat It Multiple Times

Share in written content the things you believe in, your story and how you help others.

I started out on Instagram on my personal page to write written content (before I started my business) sharing my values, lifestyle, and other stories.?

I started 3 other accounts on specific topics, such as mental health, women empowerment, and arts. Because I felt truly passionate about this and wanted to support people during covid in 2019 in mental well-being. All of this led me to build an entire company around that as well.

I wrote tangible tips on specific topics, such as mental health and women empowerment.

Once I hired my first mentor for my coaching business in 2021, I started sharing my transformation story in written content and as I repeated the process daily.

The goal here was to get used to the habit of creating content and putting myself out there.

2. Share Your Badass Moment

I made a short video sharing on socials my 3 badass moments.

I did here a video on my badass moment, sharing 3 things where I was proud of myself that I overcame something. (eg. Uni drop out, being in 6-fig debts and making 6-figures monthly, healing from a kidnap/rape and transitioning into a healthy relationship).

You can see HERE the full video here I did back then.

It can be any small win you recently had or a transformation you are happy about.

It’s a great way to kick-off your content and from there start to speak about your passion and expertise.

3. Confidence With Conscious Changes & Courage

I was always very insecure, shy, didn't accept who I was and never spoke up.

The reason why I had in the beginning a hard time to do video content, was because I was not satisfied with myself in many ways and I didn't accept who I was.

Since I was a teenager, I felt very insecure about my looks and self-image. I didn’t like certain features about my face, and I was scared of judgement in many ways.

I also deal with strong perfectionism, so I held back from creating at all content. ‘’I don’t have a fancy camera. I don’t know how to edit this. I look fat and ugly. Who am I to teach people this?’’

Many beliefs held me back. So I shifted them.

So I had a two options here:

1)?? I accept the way I am and create content.

2)?? I change the way I am and create content.

I took number 2.?

I’m not saying you have to change your whole look or the way you are as a person.

But it helped me in my journey to get ahead and feel better.

The first mindset I adopted is: ‘’I start with who I am, with what I have and with what I can at this point.’’
''I'm doing this for other people who NEED my help and service. Holding myself back out of shyness would be egoistic.''

I started with my content journey while I also up leveled my lifestyle:

I started to workout more. It made me feel more beautiful, strong and confident. Physical transformations can contribute to confidence.

I started to speak to myself in more empowering ways. ‘’You’re beautiful right now, and you will become even more fit and strong.’' Instead of: ''You're so fat, you need to lose weight.''

I put on make up and dress up in ways I love. ‘’Dressed to kill’’ it helped me a lot to boost my mental health and lead powerfully. Aesthetics and the way we look did contribute a lot to my confidence additionally.

Conclusion: Full Expression of Your Personal Brand Is a Journey?

I love to speak on stages and use my voice as a tool for more impact.

All these little steps evolved me today to this version:

  • I enjoy doing lives, videos, and content with lot of passion.
  • I love to speak on stage and be with many people around me.
  • I speak very natural, flowing and even ‘unprepared’ confident on interviews, podcasts or for speeches.
  • I make proactive connections and make money every day.
  • I embody tough love, speak up my truth and use my voice for impact.
  • I can lead teams, give constructive feedbacks and say ‘no’ to maintain my focus.
  • I share my most vulnerable stories publically and be ‘naked’ in front of the world with my truth.
  • My voice has become more powerful and evolved with more skillsets.
  • I can even dance in front of the camera. Lol (that was just for fun).

My first steps in my coaching business was to put myself out there and articulate my message.

I'm still work in process of blossoming even more in my fullest expression as a personal brand.

But I want to show you on how I started, and that everything you see about me today was created through my courage.

It come from a little girl that had big dreams and a calling, but didn't had yet the skillsets and courage.

Even as an introvert, you can build one of the most powerful brands and years later, when you look back..

..you will sometimes not even recognize yourself anymore!

Every growth step is a bit uncomfortable and you might worry that you look ‘’foolish’’ but remember: ''Every master was once a disaster.''

We grow through discomfort and our choice to rise up daily.

If you’re an introverted executive or business owner that wants to get more inbound clients and learn how to sell your service consistently in a way that feels good, message me. I will extremely customized and 90% implementation-based with my clients that lead to tangible results.

I will be happy to see how I can start helping you out.

This is a great and fun post. I like the idea that "the 1st DRAFT will be awful", which promotes the idea of just taking action, and knowing the 1st attempt at anything probably won't be your best attempt.
