Let's face it

The way we work has changed forever.

So much has happened in the world of work the last 3 years.

When we go through all these changes, only one thing remains the same.

And that's our personal brands.

It stays with us regardless of where we work.

A strong personal brand makes it easier to create and maintain a powerful business network that will open doors for you.

A strong personal brand is your safety net and power.

Avoid putting all the eggs in one basket.

There's never been a better time to build a personal brand than now.

It's time to start investing in yourself. Take ownership of your personal brand and own the navigation of your career and future.

Why is it important to build a personal brand today?

We've been through some of the most turbulent?times in recent history over the last 3 years. Stability is at an all-time low, layoffs come fast and without warning, and prices are increasing like wild. So much is out of our control, except our personal brand. 4.95B people around the world have an internet connection, meaning that we have unprecedented access to people, opportunities, communities, events, and more. The stronger your personal brand, the more likely people are to find you in a sea of billions of internet users. When we're intentional about building?our brands, we leap millions of people for special opportunities. And we've never needed that more than we do today.

What are your best tips for getting started?

You need to figure out what you want to be known for and why people should pay attention to you instead of other people. That's a pretty tough exercise. But I always?recommend that people take a non-obvious approach to solving an obvious problem. Why this problem? Why you? Why now? If you can't answer those questions, it will be difficult. Once you have them?though, it's on you to share every piece of knowledge and learning along your journey with those who are a few steps behind you. Do this, and you'll build a small community of raving fans.

Why is it important to build a personal brand today?

Your personal brand is a resume that delivers income and opportunity. It's demand gen for self. It is foolish to rely on one income stream so once you have established a record of success and credibility, you leverage your brand to augment or cut the w2 cord.

What are your best tips for getting started?

Set small goals and be consistent with network growth. I believe in growth -> engage - create as the progression of brand building.

Why is it important to build a personal brand today?

It’s all about diversifying your bets and scaling yourself.

Diversifying your bets by developing broader opportunities and expanding your surface of luck. If you’re someone working in corporate for instance - investing in your personal brand means you’re not placing your bet on one company and your reputation at that company. A layoff is less scary when you have an already-baked network of people who know and trust you.

And scaling yourself by ultimately extending who you are offline and showing what you know and can do. Let’s say you’re a top-notch CMO? That knowledge you have about building world-class marketing teams? If you publish content and lessons on that - you’ll not only enjoy providing value, but you will also get eyeballs from prospective employers and clients. Win-win. For both reasons, you build one of the most important digital currencies of today: an audience.

What are your best tips for getting started?

There’s a ton of noise on how to build your personal brand - so much so that it can get overwhelming. My top tips would be:

  • Get over the fear of hitting “publish”. We’ve all been there. We’re convinced everyone is nitpicking our every post and judging us - that’s in our heads. The quicker you get over the fear of posting, the quicker your brand will start taking shape.
  • Don’t marry yourself to any style. Test out different topics, formats, and templates - what you want at this stage is to learn what feels good and what resonates. Then you iterate.
  • Listen to the noise. That post that gets more engagement than usual? That topic that solicits more DMs? Pay attention to it - it might be telling you where you should focus.
  • Play the long-term game. A personal brand isn’t built overnight. It takes dedicated work but if you build it with patience and intention, the ROI will follow.

Why is it important to build a personal brand today?

Creating my "personal brand" was an accident. I was selling door to door when the pandemic started, at the drop of a hat I could no longer do this. On March 3rd, 2020 I committed to this platform and haven't stopped since. Building a personal brand is one of the greatest things I have ever done for my career, it helps you become recession proof, it helps you build strategic relationships and most importantly it helps those in your community. Everything has chanced since the day I accidentally created a "personal brand".

What are your best tips for getting started?

I love this question so much! I am a big fan of running with those that are a few steps ahead of you. As a kid, my dad used to make me play golf with players WAY better than me. It pushed me, it helped me and ultimately challenged me! I encourage you to do the same when building a brand here, follow those ahead of you, engage with them and most importantly stay consistent. Nothing happens overnight!

Why is it important to build a personal brand today?

Personal brand is an integral part of you. Everyone has it though not everyone’s brand is strong enough to be worth talking about (and it’s totally fine). But today, more than ever before, it’s crucial to build a strong personal brand. Effective personal branding will differentiate you from the competition and allow you to build trust with new people, whether they are prospective clients, employers or even investors. One thing to remember here - you first build your brand, and then the brand builds you.

What are your best tips for getting started?

Just start. There are tons of tips and tricks online, but the truth is that everyone is unique and has to find his/her own path. Hence, the most important thing is to start, make mistakes, learn and fall in love with the process (don’t do it if you hate it). Focus on the things that you enjoy and love talking about it. The rest will follow.

This is it

If you don't promote yourself online, who will?

Everyone has something to say.

YOU are unique.

Start owning your space today.

Own your story.

Own your past.

Own your now.

Own your navigation.

Build a personal brand.

Own your future.

Hanna I just love your newsletters and daily posts. You “speak to me” as do others like Jon Dooley, Paula White, and Justin Welsh, to name a few. You are all so inspirational and lead by example. I appreciate you all because this introvert is stepping out of my comfort zone!

It can be also frustrating to try to build your personal branding. It is actually like a marathon, where you need to train a lot and takes time.? We are kind of used to getting results in short term and personal branding is more medium-term. In my case, is something that I have just started working and at the moment I am failing ????. It means I need to work harder and change the strategy, but the most important time is to allocate time for it. Thank you for the tips and for trying to guide the most amateurs.
