Is this person right saying, 'Mother pigs feel safe in a confined cage away from their babies?'

....A recent comment on a post and images showing intense confinement in factory farming on Compassion in World Farming's page, had Philip saying....
"Why not ask the farmer the reason for the pig farrowing crate? You might learn a thing or two that is is to avoid the mother rolling over and crushing her babies. And, by the way, pigs love it!"
How is a vegan to respond to what the vegan knows to be a ridiculous comment?
If we sarcastically say any of the above, I think we must ask ourselves:
OR
Do I want to answer in a way that will.......
......Get the message across that his comment is mere justification of his part in paying for, or endorsing heinous cruelty - WHILST not shaming him so that he 'shoots the messenger' and doesn't change his actions?

THIS WAS MY ANSWER TO HIS COMMENT
"Philip, I find it intriguing that you might think for a moment that the Global Chief Executive of Compassion in World Farming may have never spoken to a farmer. In his decades of experience I imagine he has and continues to do this on a very regular basis.
We all know the reason for the farrowing crate - so mother pigs, their bodies engorged and their legs not able to support their weight due to lack of movement and over- feeding, do not roll on the piglets - or if we say it as it is, the products of an industry sold for profit.
I think (and yes I assume), that you have some amazing mental gymnastics going on here to say that 'pigs enjoy it".
As humans, we often make assumptions about our closest human partners' and friends' feelings and actions, so to make interpretations of the intentions, beliefs, values and feelings of another species, is surely a stretch?.......
.......Unless one wants to justify horrendous cruelty in an attempt to continue one's behaviour to use, exploit, consume, incarcerate and kill animals for nothing more inconsequential than one's taste-buds, traditions or habits.
What do you and others reading this post think?"
MY QUESTION TO YOU, THE READER OF THIS POST
I would love your comments on my answer and also how you would respond to this so we can all be better instruments for change.
Vystopia and the Burden of Knowing is very onerous and yet we must pass that anguish through our bodies when such comments are made, so we can calmly and with impact, speak out for the animals - and end the heinous cruelty of all animal use.

2 个月Pigs sing to their young...they cuddle with them, babies follow mama and learn from her...so who can justify this cruelty. If you won't do it to a dog then don't do it to any other animal

2 个月Philip's claim is not only scientifically unfounded but also deeply dismissive of the emotional and social nature of pigs - known to be highly intelligent and nurturing animals. To suggest that any mother, human or non-human, 'loves' confinement and forced separation from her offspring undermines their basic instincts.

2 个月Great comment Clare. Philip hopefully gives some thought to your response or continues to justify cruelty to keep the violence going for his taste buds.
