Persisting with messages

LinkedIn makes it very easy to send a message directly to a recruiter, and we know it’s highly frustrating when you don’t hear back... The challenge for recruiters lies in finding time to get through the 100s of daily messages we receive. The key to overcoming this challenge? Your persistence.
Persistence in following up on your messages or emails is essential.? Sometimes we read the message, but before we have time to respond, our phones ring, we get distracted, and then forget to reply.
If we post a job on LinkedIn, we receive literally hundreds of messages that day.? I appreciate you’re being advised then to follow up with a message - to contact the person who posted the job, but in reality, you’re not the only person doing that. Our inboxes become completely unmanageable and therefore the process is flawed.
Please don’t assume we are deliberately ignoring you or deleting your message without reading it.. your messages are sitting nicely somewhere in our inboxes, unread, due to the volume we are dealing with.
We truly want to hear from you if you are indeed the perfect candidate for the role.? Sending just one initial message on ‘job post day’ will probably not result in a response for reasons mentioned above. So if you really match the requirements, follow up with another polite message. Your message will then appear at the top of our inbox.? You must persevere. If we do not see your second message, send a third, etc.? However, what you should not do, is become angrier and ruder that your messages are not getting read, as that will probably not help your case!
Furthermore, the auto-generated text created by LinkedIn does NOT work.? All the messages look identical and it’s a waste of your time.. Instead, revert back to the list of ‘requirements’ in the job advert, refer to them in your message, backing up why you are therefore a strong candidate…
For example, the advert may say ‘...must be a Chartered Accountant... must have proven manufacturing experience... must be currently working at FD level’.
Your response should be:
领英推荐
"I think I’m a great match because:
1 - I’m a Chartered Accountant, ?‘Gold Medallist’ CA qualified, since 2008
2 - I’ve been working in a multinational manufacturing company for the past 7 years
3 – I’m currently working as a Regional Finance Director in a large organisation.
My current salary is X , my notice period is X, and my CV is attached."
?
In conclusion, persistence in emailing and messaging is essential for achieving desired outcomes. It is a strategy that showcases your commitment, and if you are able to navigating our busy inboxes by highlighting your value, you increase the chances of receiving the response you are seeking.
Thanks for sharing your side of story. As a candidate one always looks at his own side of the picture. This article has really changed my view point about recruiters.

1 年Thank you for your post, that explains a lot. What to do in case a candidate is not able to follow up with a kind reminder message, because the first one is still notvaccepted? What's your thoughts ?
