Persevere

Persevere

Last week I wrote that I would be sharing stories each week about overcoming obstacles with determination and perseverance. My goal is to share stories that will inspire people to understand that achieving success is always challenging. Regardless of what it looks like to the rest of us, successful people have always had to overcome obstacles, setbacks, and disappointment. So today I'm going to write about the importance of perseverance.

"Perseverance is the key to success." That's a phrase we often hear, but what does it mean? To persevere means to keep going despite obstacles or setbacks, to maintain a strong focus on your goals and to never give up. I'll admit it's not always easy, but those who do persevere can achieve greatness.

Consider the story of Thomas Edison, one of the greatest inventors in history. Edison is credited with developing the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and of course, the light bulb. But his success did not come easily. He failed over and over again before finally finding success.

In fact, Edison's famous quote about his light bulb invention is, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Imagine trying to invent something 10,000 times, only to fail each time. Most people would have given up long before that.

Edison's perseverance was evident in his work ethic. He worked tirelessly, often staying up all night, and always kept sight of his goals. There's a story that the day he got married, he returned to his laboratory after the wedding and spent the rest of the evening working. He believed in himself and his abilities, even when others doubted him. And eventually, all of his hard work paid off. His inventions transformed the world and made him one of the most successful inventors ever.

His life's lesson for all of us is that success requires perseverance. It requires a willingness to work hard and never give up, even when things get tough.?Especially?when things get tough. It means facing challenges head-on and always keeping sight of your goals.

Yes, it's easier said than done. Perseverance, by its very nature, means doing something difficult. It means facing failure and disappointment and still pushing forward. But the rewards for perseverance are amazing, and when you finally achieve your goals, you'll look back on all the hard work and struggles and know it was worth it.

Do you know what the most remarkable thing about perseverance is? Anyone can persevere. If that's true, and I know that it is, then all of us can reach any goal we set for ourselves. So, if you knew that you could achieve any goal you set for yourself, what exactly would you set out to do? Because that's the reward for perseverance.

I hope you are as inspired by that message as I am.

Quote of the week:

“Perseverance and determination alone are omnipotent.”

Calvin Coolidge, US President
