Perseverance is a Force Multiplier for Talent in the Journey to Success
“Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.”- Stephen King.
Nothing else is closer to my heart than this statement by Stephen King. Talent is futile until unless you go for it.
It is nice to have talent. However, you just cannot sit on the couch & expect great results. In the longer run, nothing comes close to the idea of working hard. Your natural talent might give you a head start, but if you really need to get to the finish line, you have to show a lot of hard work & perseverance to succeed.
Talent is one of the criteria that will differentiate the winners from others. In order to succeed, one has to put in a lot of hard work, have a mindset to keep pressing on, even in the face of failures.
Some of the finest actors are not the ones who were born with too much talent. But these are the individuals who work year after year, working on their talent & skill set. Some of the finest musicians are not the ones who are born great. They work a tremendous amount of hours to sharpen their skills, which eventually helps them to transform into the greatest.
Some of the legendary Olympians were not necessarily the ones with a lot of raw power. These were the individuals who prepared for year after year to achieve the results.
Likewise, the same axiom is true in the world of business. It is really nice if you have a knack for negotiation, analytical thinking, powerful communication, as these are some of the qualities which I believe are required to excel in the world of business.
However, what is much more needed is the ability to work hard & when I say work hard, it means working hard relentlessly for months after months (If required maybe more). One needs to have the ability to conceptualize a plan & then go after the execution.
Communication, analytical thinking & negotiations are things that can even be acquired during the course of the journey. However, you won’t move an inch in your entrepreneurial journey, until unless you won’t put in the required hours. You need to strive hard in a systematic manner to realize the desired potential.
