Perioperative Hug

The Perioperative Hug:
Is when a patient's relative hugs his or her patient before surgery or any invasive procedure.
Every patient's relative should be encouraged to deliver a consoling hug and perhaps a good gesture to his or her relative (patient) in the operating room holding area, and vice versa.
Once the aforementioned activity does not endanger any of the people involved, such as the queen and the king, one should show polite regard to the other, and ditto to that of a poor family living in the same hurt, they share their woes and gains unconditionally.
Families play an important role in meeting the care needs of individuals who require assistance due to illness or disability. Family-centered care has been proposed to address the needs of not only the patient but also their family members.?
A perioperative hug is a cutting edge to reducing surgical-related anxiety prior to surgery.
The perioperative Hug
Aimed at inculcating a friendly surgical operating environment, patient family-centered care, and improving the patient’s surgical experiences. Anxiety is one of the major hazards surgical patients encounter prior to surgery, it is defined as a feeling of unease, worry, fear, tension, and apprehension. Which is a response to external or internal stimuli that is characterized by behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and physical symptoms. According to (Mulugeta et al., 2018), anxiety during the preoperative period is the most common problem with several postoperative complications as an increase in postoperative pain, delay of healing, prolonged hospital stay, higher doses of anesthetic agents, and poor recovery.
